Swahili Pilau Masala Recipe
Ingredients
¼ cup oil (vegetable, canola, olive, grapeseed or avocado oil)
2 cups Basmati Rice
1 small onion (sliced)
3 garlic cloves (minced)
2 tablespoon ginger minced
1.5 tablespoon Afromeals Swahili Pilau Masala seasoning
3.5 cups of meat or vegetable broth or water
2 bouillon cubes (optional)
Salt to taste.
Directions:
Heat oil in a 2-3 quarts pot over medium heat. Add sliced onions and sauté for about 30 seconds or until translucent. Then add minced garlic and ginger and stir to combine. Add Afromeals Swahili Pilau Masala seasoning and stir to combine until fragrant, 30 seconds. Reduce heat to medium low heat (dial 4 on cook top). Rinse rice then add it to the pot and stir to combine. Add broth or water and stir to combine, then add the bouillon cubes and or salt to taste, then stir to combine. Cover pot and allow rice to cook under medium low heat about dial 4 on your cook top for about 15 to 20 minutes, until rice is soft to bite or to fingernail. Enjoy with sauteed or grilled vegetables with a side of meat or Kuku Paka (Chicken Curry) sauce.
